I am grateful for the support provided by the Geoff Walsh Memorial Scholarship.

As a new certifier starting out, it has been a challenge to buy out enough time and resources from earning an income to put towards improving my industry knowledge.

The funding provided by the scholarship enabled me to undertake training that I would not have otherwise been able to do. This has improved my confidence in applying consistent outcomes to certifications and in handling client interactions.

Coming initially from a background in applied physics research, the transition to engineering practice has been an interesting one. Being able to complete training to better understand the more practical skills required for engineering design and analysis, particularly around welding and fatigue, has been pivotal to my being able to grow and contribute as a heavy vehicle certifying engineer.

I would like to again express my gratitude to the HVE group and the Geoff Walsh Memorial scholarship for their investment into the growth and development of new engineers joining the industry. This industry can certainly provide some stress and uncertainty at times. Being part of a group of experienced engineers and manufacturers who are willing to share their knowledge and advice makes all the difference.
