“The Totara has fallen in the forest of Tane. A very sad day for the industry.”
- Mathew Gillies

Geoff Walsh was a giant of a man – in heart and mind, to his family, his friends, and his work colleagues. A devoted husband of one, a wonderful father of two and, a special friend to many. Geoff is frequently described as a true gentleman.
His childhood passion (and ultimately, his adult profession) in trucks and heavy vehicles has helped shape the transport industry as we know it today.
Having benefited from a scholarship himself in the early years of his engineering career, Geoff was the recipient of the E.J Brennan Memorial Trust travel award which enabled 3 months spent in Europe, USA and Australia studying vehicle weights and dimensions and intermodal transport. Throughout the extensive career that followed, Geoff has always valued giving back to the industry and supporting colleagues through sharing time, knowledge and inspiration, which is why this particular scholarship is such a wonderful fit to memorialise Geoff.
Geoff and his company (Transport Technology Ltd) of design engineers and draughtsmen were a leading consultancy in road transport equipment design. Geoff’s knowledge and contribution to the industry will be remembered for many years to come.
In honor of this loyal, reliable, and hard-working man, the Geoff Walsh Memorial Scholarship has been established. The Scholarship is a further testament to this stalwart of the industry – to give financial assistance to those wishing to further educate and train in this industry.
